Chapter One :Chapter 1

That dumb and obnoxious cheerleading bitch, Nikky Palmer, was undoubtedly the cause of all the tragedies that happened that day.

She had insulted and bullied my best friend and it was her fault I got detention and had to stay after school to clean the toilets! A terrible mean bitch!

“No. No. No. You guys have to let me tear this asshole into shreds!” I was boiling with sheer and vehement rage. My fists were clenched tightly, ready to throw punches at her dumb face till next week. I was raving mad with fury.

Oh how I really wanted to squeeze her face violently into nonexistence. Luckily for her, I was being held back and restricted by her three minions, if not, I would’ve gorged out those blue contact lenses from those stupid eyes of hers. She’s not fooling anyone, off course we knew she wasn’t naturally blue eye-d.

     I’m sure you’re wondering, how I must’ve gotten myself into a fight with the most popular girl at school; a proud, haughty cheerleader and the Queen Bee of Sugar Hill High on the first day of Senior year and the truth is that I’m shocked about it too. Everything went sour pretty fast. Well this is how it all went down;

It had always a dream of Makayla, my best friend since like- forever, to join the school’s cheerleading squad, and what better time to do so than now, Senior Year? They’re so many perks in being a senior in all these clubs and teams; you don’t get to be bullied by others, you get to boss around all the other junior cheerleaders and always be in charge of making decisions for the team. Rather than yessing about to what others say, you make the rules.

It was announced towards the ending of last year that tryouts to join the cheerleading team were scheduled to hold on the first day of the new year, and Makayla hadn’t stopped tirelessly practicing her moves for her tryout routine ever since.

Skipping all the unnecessary details of how exceptionally well our summer holiday went, we quickly forward to recess, first day of school, at the gym, where the tryouts were being held.

Sadie Park, Tony Frit and the irky-est bitch in town, Nikky Palmer, were chosen to be the judges of the tryouts and that’s where everything went downhill.

When it was Makayla’s turn to perform her routine, she did it exceptionally well, quite to my surprise. I thought she’d panic and fritz out, being timid and all, especially in front of Nikki. But it was indeed quite the opposite.

All her moves were intriguing, rhythmically accurate and amazingly athletic, thanks to her hard work and effort.

Well, left to me and practically everyone else in the universe who had a well functioning brain, Makayla aced that performance.

But I’m afraid Nikki was either so clouded with jealously that she couldn't tell apart, or she was just plane dumb that she couldn’t see how good Makayla was.

A well functioning brain there? Nah, I doubt.

Sadie gave Makayla a 9.5. Tony gave her a perfect 10. Nikki, who overtime, has proven to have acquired reasoning, the size of half a peanut, gave her a flat out, mean 0.

I mean even someone with quarter the brains of Patrick Star would know that performance was impeccable.

The prancing petty bitch

as I like to call her,

wrote the score tiny enough so Makayla wouldn’t see be able to see it without her glasses.

She stepped closer and strained her eyes hard to see what Nikki had written on her placard. To her, there’s no way she would’ve gotten a zero, not with that wholesome performance she had just put on.

“Blind much?” Nikki teased Makayla with a contemptful smirk and afterwards, emitted a disdainful giggle which was rather scary than mocking.

No, children shouldn’t be allowed to listen that cackle she calls a giggle. They would gain nothing but endless nightmares about the Giggling Cheerleading Witch. Beware friends.

Makayla said nothing in response to Nikki’s taunt. She was getting to realize that Nikki in fact, wrote the figure illegibly purposely just to spite and make a fool out of her.

She walked to her bag she had kept on a nearby chair and then took out those glasses of hers that were as thick as Meghan Thee Stallion.

She wore the glasses and balanced it against her sharp nose bridge then returned back to the table.

She could see it now. The zero, fairly tiny written but the disappointment and heartbreak she mugged was far beyond tiny.

She balanced the glasses once more and sniffled. One could see beyond the lenses and spot the downcast that glommed in her eyes causing her to soon fog up some tears.

“But why?” She stuttered, her voice broke. She was about to cry. Poor, timid Makayla. All she wanted to do was join the cheerleading team. Why was Nikki being a pain in the ass?

She chuckled, “First of all, you’re not cool and popular enough to be on the cheerleading team. You’re just a clueless nerd, who’s fashion sense is way, way, way three seasons ago. A scared duff who’s shy for words and hides under the shadow of her mommy, Bella.” Nikki brashly jeered a spew of hurtful words and burst into a mocking laughter and the rest of the cheerleading team laughed it all up too.

“And your dance moves were lame-o!” Nikki added with a thumbs down then blew a raspberry. “So, you didn’t make the team.”

“But the other judges gave me good scores. I’m sure I passed the cut off mark with those.” Makayla protested defensively.

“I am the leader of the cheerleading team and I make the rules! So I say you didn't make the team. Any problem with that? Deal with it!” Nikki superciliously responded with haughty emphasis on her pronouns and her status in the team.

Nikki’s words really struck a hole in Makayla’s heart and the tears she was bitterly trying to hold back seemed to have carried far too much pain and mortification to be restricted.

She scrunched her face into tearful grimace and the tears slithered down her face freely.

Nikki and her pack of mindless minions- I mean the other cheerleaders, burst into a guffawed cachinnation as Makayla began to run out of the gym in tears.

On her way out, she mistakenly bumped into the door because she had removed her glasses amidst her tears and had her eyes shut as she rubbed them, trying to put a halt to the salty liquid that embodied her embarrassment.

The laughter increased at that.

“She can’t see the door despite her thick glasses!” Some boy from the cheerleading team teased.

Obviously, she wasn't wearing them, you assclown.

“Thick glasses that make her look like a seventy-three year old divorce who lives with 98 cats and reads encyclopedias of random nonsense!” Another girl added and the laughter continued.

I was seated not too far away from the scene, trying my best to control my rising anger, keep my calm and restrain myself from walking over there and causing an uproar. The last thing I’d want for myself was to get into a fight with Nikki Palmer, again.

The last time that happened was in eight grade. It was a messy one. There was blood. And that resulted to someone being admitted to the ICU and the other spent three weeks at some quack boot camp learning anger management. I guess you can figure out yourself who did what.

“I guess she was the last.” Tony said, getting up from his seat after the laughter tapered off.

Sadie stood up too, “Yeah.”

“Did that duff really think she’d make it into the cheerleading team?” Madison, one of the cheerleading girls and Nikki’s friends chuckled.

“She has great moves though. She would’ve made it if not for Nikki’s preferences.” Someone said and I was glad that at least someone reasoned well in that team.

“Yes, her moves were great but she’s as blind as a bat. We don’t want her messing up our routine because of her sight impairment. ” Nikki said and paused to drink some of her sparkling water. “And what do you mean by ‘Nikki’s Preferences’? Don’t make it seem like I’m the bad person. I do everything I do just for the sake of our team.” She questioned the girl, making air quotes around ‘Nikki’s Preferences’.

Some indiscreet chatter and mumbling followed after Nikki’s statement but were all quietened down by her.

“That routine of hers. Did you get it on video?” She questioned Valerie, another one of her friends and she responded by affirmatively waving her phone.

“Perfect.” Nikki smiled. “We’re going to be using all her moves, add some of ours and make a routine for the big game coming up soon.” Nikki added and everyone chorused different agreeing answers.

“Alright. Let’s go.” She said and the rest got up from their seats then made their way to the door, where they had a fuming angry me to deal with.

I stood there at the entrance, crossed armed with the most menacing look I could put up and they paused in their tracks.

“Move.” Nikki spat.

“No.” I declined.

“Get out of the way Bella.”

“And if I don’t want to?” A chorus of “ooh” and “ahs” followed my response and the crowd gradually backed away from Madison and I.

“Ugh. I don’t want any problems with you Bella. Can you just be mature and get out of the freaking way?”

“Again, what if I don’t want to? Are you going to talk down on me like you did to my best friend? I’m sorry that ain’t gonna work on me. And I’m going to make sure I teach you a lesson that’ll make you crying and begging for Kayla’s forgiveness.”

Nikki gave out a snotty laugh and sighed after she tapered off, “Remember what happened the last time you and I fought. I’m sure you’re not looking forward to another three weeks in Idaho and besides, you’re a cool girl. What are you doing hanging around with that blind bat, lowlife duff?”

How dare she? How dare Nikki insult our friendship? No. This is unacceptable.

Well friends, It was at that point I lost it.
